Next up -- Chicago and New York!

On the next episode of the Detention Club, we will be visiting Chicago and New York, two cities loved by Sinatra and Friends. In fact, whenever he was in Chicago, Frank Sinatra dined at the Twin Anchors in Old Town. My father would see him there occasionally when he would go out on Sunday nights with his family.

This episode is dedicated to  songs featuring Chicago and New York. In fact, some of Sinatra's most recognizable songs are about those two cities!

Also in this episode are songs from Sammy Davis, Jr.,  Tony Bennett, Liza Minnelli and Nancy Sinatra.

Love Songs Now Available On-Demand!

If you missed "Love Songs" on the FS Detention Club, listen now On-Demand. This episode features Love Songs from Sinatra and friends, plus a great block of music from Nancy Sinatra and her brother, Frank Sinatra, Jr.  The highlight, though, is a great duet featuring Lena Horne and Sammy Davis, Jr.

Next Episode: The Vinyl and Shellac Show

On the next episode of the FS Detention Club, we are spinning Vinyl and Shellac. Sinatra went solo at a time of transition in music. In 1948, his first album was re-released on the very first pop vinyl album, spinning at 33 1/3 rpm. But he also released music in the older format 78 rpm, on shellac.

We will spin Sinatra's first release, The Voice of Frank Sinatra on a 1952 45 rpm vinyl disc set and several singles from the 40s on 78 rpm shellac.

But Sinatra's career was more than that song. She was an artist not afraid to take risks. Her catalog spans pop to country to American Standards. We will play a sampling of it all.
