Next Episode: The Vinyl and Shellac Show

On the next episode of the FS Detention Club, we are spinning Vinyl and Shellac. Sinatra went solo at a time of transition in music. In 1948, his first album was re-released on the very first pop vinyl album, spinning at 33 1/3 rpm. But he also released music in the older format 78 rpm, on shellac.

We will spin Sinatra's first release, The Voice of Frank Sinatra on a 1952 45 rpm vinyl disc set and several singles from the 40s on 78 rpm shellac.

Back to the Beginning!

When I started the Frank Sinatra Detention Club, I played music in detention from a 90-minute mixtape I had made from a very large boombox. That was 1991. The boombox is gone, but I still have the tape.

On the next episode of the FS Detention Club, I will be playing the first side of that tape.
